New Highlighting Idea - Peter Doig

I am now at the stage in my final piece that I am adding the highlights into the hair and I didn't really have a brush which was thin enough so I was told to try and use thread by running the thread through the oil paint and placing it onto the hair, loosely, and press down on top of the thread with a piece of paper to create the highlighting pattern on the hair. This worked extremely well and it has given my final piece a looser effect, adding a bit more freedom into it.

I was influenced by the artist Peter Doig who uses the same technique on top of his work, which is very unusual; however fits in with my project extremely well in terms of the highlights.

This is Peter's work and as you can see he uses white, messy lines over the top of his finished product to add his own stamp/technique onto his work to make it stand out. I really like this idea as it doesn't look out of place, it looks like it's meant to work together and be there intentially, which it might well be, however it looks great. I have used this technique throughout the highlights in my hair on my oil painting and this is working really well so far.
