London Art Trip

We took a trip to London for the day and we visited the National Portrait Gallery and I came across some work that I had already been looking at, such as Marc Quinn's sculpture and all of the art within this gallery was was extremely contemporary and inspiring. 

It was great to see a piece that you have been studying in real-life as you can get a real feel for the work, rather than just looking at it in pictures and on the internet. The 'blood head' was actually kept in a special refrigeration unit to ensure that the piece stayed intact and held it's form. It was very specialist and i've never seen art like this before in an art gallery, so it was a fantastic experience. 

I thought that this head sculpture also linked in with my work in terms of my ice sculpture and how I am producing a project about my life, much like a self-portrait of my life and this is reflected within my final piece in my oil painting. 

These pieces of work really emphasised that actually, pieces of work don't have to be totally finished in order to be named as a finished product, as these drawings had just been started and not completely finished which really gave me inspiration to not be frightened about finished certain pieces of work - everything is art within itself. In a way, these pieces look finished even though they're not due to the high standard in which they have been produced.

Overall, this was a fantastic day and it enabled me to see some great pieces of art work, even street artists performing and also drawing on different materials such as concrete, which was amazing to watch.

I was inspired by the vast majority of different art that I saw throughout the day and it has inspired me to continue working to the best of my ability and not to be afraid of what I create, whether it's finished or not.
